WHAT ARE YOUR WEEKEND SERVICES LIKE?
Each weekend at Village Church, you will find a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with exciting, modern worship music and a practical, relevant message from Scripture. Children are well-cared for in a loving, quality nursery and fun-filled Village Kids ministries.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I VISIT FOR THE FIRST TIME?
If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money. We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for awhile—and that’s fine with us! Come in, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, and see if this is the church for you.
WHAT DO I WEAR TO ATTEND YOUR SERVICES?
Most people dress more casually in our worship services, but you are welcome to wear whatever is comfortable for you because our church is not about what you look like or what you wear. We are concerned about who you are on the inside. Since we are meeting in a school, we would recommend wearing layers to accommodate for the temperature.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Our Sunday worship services are normally held at Churchville Elementary School in Churchville, VA. Another common location is behind or even in the Churchville Fire Dept.
DO YOU HAVE A MIDWEEK SERVICE?
Instead of a mid-week service, we have in-home LIFE groups. We also have periodic events and services to bring our church family and community together for worship, study, prayer, and communion.
WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN?
Your children are a top priority at Village Church. Our VILLAGE KIDS ministry is a clean, safe, and well-staffed learning environment for infants - 2 year olds (Nursery) and potty-trained 3 year olds - 3rd graders (KIDS Church). Starting Fall 2016, 4th-6th graders will also be able to worship and learn on their level through our V-46 ministry.
HOW CAN I MEET OTHERS AND GET CONNECTED?
HOW CAN I BE DISCIPLED AND GROW?
Our desire is to see you become a fully-devoted follower of Christ. To do that, we want to help you Connect, Grow, Serve, and then Go. Our GROWTH TRACK classes offer the tools necessary to make this happen in your life.
WHY DO YOU HAVE LIFE GROUPS?
LIFE Groups are an important part of our church; in fact, you haven’t fully experienced the church until you’ve experienced our small group environments. Groups allow you to meet others from our church, develop relationships that will spur on your relationship with God, and keep our church "small" even while it grows larger. Groups are available in different locations at different times and days - there’s bound to be one that’s right for you.
WHAT BIBLE VERSION DO YOU USE?
Thanks to great research from great minds, there are several translations of the Bible that are good to read and study for everyone - no matter your age or schooling. For simplicity, at Village Church, we have committed to use the English Standard Version (ESV) in our Sunday worship services. If you have any questions about why, please let us know!
WHEN DO YOU TAKE COMMUNION (OR LORD'S SUPPER)?
Communion (or Lord's Supper) is not a requirement necessarily for believers, but it is a reminder for both individual believers and the church family of Jesus’s sacrifice in their place for sin. We take communion periodically throughout the year as a response to God's Word and as a form of worship. During Communion, the bread does not become Jesus’ actual body and the juice does not become Jesus’ actual blood - they are symbols to help us remember Jesus.
CAN MY CHILD TAKE COMMUNION (OR LORD'S SUPPER)?
Children should participate in communion when their parents’ feel they are ready according to their own wisdom and discernment from the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. There is no "age of accountability" or such requirement in the Bible. The only prerequisite is that the child be a follower of Jesus Christ. So when it comes to children, it is important to determine (1) have they given a convincing profession of faith in Jesus, and (2) are they showing evidence or “fruit” of conversion through obedience to and love for Jesus?
